Barcelona property is a popular investment. Barcelona has been one of our strongest markets since Mortgage Direct first started operating in Spain in 2006. With over 95% of our clients being foreign buyers, we can see why Barcelona is such a favoured hotspot, given that it ranks as one of Europe and the World’s most visited cities. Not only do you get the extravagant lifestyle of fine dining, beautiful buildings, relaxing public parks and a variety of popular urban beaches, you also have the feeling of being part of an affluent and vibrant city. From the upmarket areas of Eixample and the Zona Alta, to the popular district of El Born and the more diverse, up-and-coming districts of Sant Antoni and Poble Sec, there is something for everyone.

From an investment point of view, Barcelona ticks most boxes and certainly has a resilient property market. There are strong national and international transport links and with a thriving commercial sector it is an exciting place to invest. We find many of our buyers in Barcelona are Europeans based in places like Singapore, Hong Kong and the UAE,  as well a significant number of Brits, Americans and Canadians wanting to own a property in city.

Mortgage process for Barcelona property buyers

Once the mortgage is approved, the process remains very local to your new property. We have local representatives who know the areas inside out; we also work with local lawyers and valuation companies (all approved by the Bank of Spain) to ensure our clients receive the very best service all the way through to completion. On completion day, a representative of the local bank branch will sign the mortgage on behalf of the bank and our clients can continue to manage their everyday banking requirements locally thereafter or online.
